The Buying Process

Straightforward answers about how buying a Subaru at Fletcher actually works.

Is the buying process really no-pressure?

Yes -- and we mean it. Fletcher Subaru takes a consultative approach to car buying, not a pushy one. Our team is here to help you find the right vehicle for your life, at a payment that works for your budget. We believe a comfortable customer is a happy customer, and happy customers come back.

We even offer a women-centric, no-pressure sales experience -- if you'd prefer to work with one of our women associates throughout the process, just ask. We're proud to have talented women in both our sales and service departments who are ready to guide you.

What does the trade-in process look like?

Our appraisal process is designed to pay you more -- and faster. Rather than making you jump through hoops with a national buying service, Fletcher Subaru can have a check in your hands within 24 hours. We make a real offer on your vehicle based on a transparent appraisal, no games required.

To get started, just let us know the make and model of your trade-in, any known damage or issues, and the best way to reach you. That's it.

Can I get an accurate rate estimate before I apply for financing?

Absolutely. Interest rates shouldn't be a mystery. Fletcher Subaru can tell you your likely rate with 97% accuracy based on the answers to just three quick questions -- and no hard credit inquiry is required to get that estimate.

Whether you're financing a new Subaru Outback, Crosstrek, or Forester, or a quality pre-owned vehicle, we'll give you a real number before you ever fill out a full application. Ask us how when you're ready.

What kind of financing and lease deals are available?

Fletcher Subaru works hard to find competitive financing for every customer. Current offers have included rates as low as 2.9% APR for up to 72 months on popular models like the Outback -- with payments that are often lower than shoppers expect.

Leasing is also a strong option. We've helped customers get into a $47,000 Subaru for as little as $350 a month including taxes. Lease programs change monthly, so contact us for current availability and to see what fits your situation best.

Current specials on new inventory, financing, and leasing are always posted at Frank's Green Tag Specials.

How We Treat Our Customers

What to expect when you walk through our doors -- and what happens after you drive away.

What makes the service experience at Fletcher different?

Transparency is the foundation of how we do service. Every vehicle that comes in for maintenance or repair receives a digital multi-point inspection with real-time updates, photos, and videos sent directly to your phone or email. You see exactly what our technicians see -- no surprises, no upsells you didn't ask for.

We also provide a walkaround video of your vehicle during service, so you can follow along from wherever you are. It's a level of visibility that most dealerships simply don't offer.

Do you have women service advisors and salespeople?

We do -- and we're proud of it. Fletcher Subaru has built a team that includes talented women throughout both our sales and service departments. If you prefer a no-mansplaining service experience, just let us know and we'll connect you with one of our women service associates.

Ashley, Maru, Jocelyn, and others on the team are genuinely skilled professionals who make the service process easy, honest, and straightforward. It's different here -- in the best way.

What does the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty mean for me as a customer?

Frank Fletcher Subaru is the home of the True Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. Every new Subaru purchased or leased from our dealership after November 1, 2017 is covered under your vehicle's powertrain warranty for as long as you own it -- after the standard Subaru factory warranty expires.

That means your engine, transmission, drivetrain, and AWD components are protected for life, with annual complimentary inspections to keep coverage active. No other dealer in the region offers this level of long-term protection on a new Subaru purchase.

To keep your warranty active: Annual powertrain inspections are required within 60 days of each anniversary of your vehicle's in-service date. These inspections are performed at no charge at Fletcher Subaru.

Our Community Involvement

Fletcher Subaru doesn't just operate in Joplin -- we're invested in it.

What is the Kindness Collective?

The Kindness Collective is the giving arm of Frank Fletcher Subaru -- and the flesh-and-blood expression of who we are as a team. It's a group of people committed to making a real difference in the Joplin community, one act at a time. In their own words: compassion meets commerce.

The Kindness Collective organizes, funds, and physically shows up for community initiatives throughout the year. This isn't a marketing program -- it's something the team genuinely believes in and participates in on their own time.

Which organizations does Fletcher Subaru support?

The Kindness Collective has an active and ongoing presence with several Joplin-area organizations:

Ronald McDonald House of the Four States -- The team cooks and delivers full meals on a regular basis, from holiday spreads at Thanksgiving to chicken noodle soup portioned into individual containers for families to grab after long hospital days. They've also provided shuttle service for the annual Christmas tree lighting.

Children's Haven of Southwest Missouri -- Volunteer days, toy rehabilitation, donated 132 brand-new winter coats through a partnership with Operation Warm, and prepared full dinners for the children and staff. Children's Haven provides emergency shelter for kids from birth through 17 at no cost to families in crisis.

Joplin Humane Society -- Sponsored adoption events that resulted in 58 animals finding forever homes during the summer "Dog Days of Summer" event, and 40 more adoptions during a fall weekend event. Provided bandanas, pet brushes, and on-site volunteers.

Joplin Downtown Alliance Clean Team -- Employees from across the dealership spent a Saturday cleaning downtown streets and green spaces alongside the Clean Team, then enjoyed coffee from Joplin Avenue Coffee Company.

Wildcat Glades Conservation Area -- A 23-person crew including families tackled off-the-beaten-path litter in the conservation area, with kids participating in designated cleaning zones.

Joplin Franklin Technology Center -- Service Manager Ashley Carnes chairs the advisory board, connected FTC automotive students to real dealership career experiences, and helped place graduates in internships and roles at the dealership.

Does Subaru itself support these efforts?

Yes. Fletcher Subaru is a proud participant in the Subaru Love Promise program, which recognizes dealers who make a positive impact in their communities. In 2026, Frank Fletcher Subaru was honored with the Subaru Love Promise HEART Award -- one of Subaru's highest recognitions for community commitment.

Annual programs like Subaru Loves to Help, Subaru Loves Pets, Subaru Loves Learning, and the Subaru Share the Love Event give the dealership additional tools and funding to amplify local impact. Fletcher Subaru has consistently been one of the most active participants in these programs across the region.

The Heart Behind the Dealership

Why we do things the way we do -- and what we actually believe.

What does "It's Different Here" actually mean?

It means exactly what it says. At Frank Fletcher Subaru, the goal has never been to just move metal off a lot. The dealership was built around the idea that how you treat people -- customers, employees, and neighbors -- matters more than any transaction.

That belief shows up in the no-pressure sales process, the transparent service model, the women-led team options, the Lifetime Warranty, and the Kindness Collective. These aren't programs bolted onto a traditional dealership. They're what the dealership was designed to be.

What values drive the way Fletcher Subaru operates?

The team operates from a clear set of core values: honesty, kindness, transparency, and genuine care for the community. These aren't slogans -- they're reflected in the day-to-day decisions the team makes, from how they price vehicles to how they spend their Saturdays volunteering.

The alignment between Subaru as a brand -- "Love. It's what makes a Subaru a Subaru." -- and Fletcher's own values is one reason this partnership has been so successful. Both the brand and the dealership believe that commerce and compassion aren't opposites. They reinforce each other.

Why does a car dealership cook meals and clean parks?

Because Frank Fletcher built his businesses with the belief that you have a responsibility to the community you operate in. That philosophy goes back decades -- to his early relationship with Sam Walton, who taught him to invest in relationships and serve with intention.

The Kindness Collective isn't a PR strategy. It's what happens when the people who work at a dealership genuinely like their community and want to take care of it. A team that shows up at Ronald McDonald House at 7am on a Saturday to make chicken soup isn't doing it for a press release.

Frank Fletcher opened his first automotive dealership in 1989 with a single store. Over the following decades, that single store grew into the Fletcher Auto Group -- now home to 10 dealerships across multiple brands and markets, and ranked among the top 100 car dealers in the United States.

Fletcher Subaru in Joplin is one of the flagship locations in that group, representing a brand whose values -- reliability, safety, adventure, and love for community -- align naturally with everything the Fletcher organization has built.

Is Fletcher Subaru part of a larger company?

Yes. Fletcher Subaru is part of the Fletcher Auto Group, which includes Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Honda, Hyundai, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, and Subaru dealerships across multiple cities. Who Is Frank Fletcher?

The story behind the name on the building.

Where did Frank Fletcher come from and how did he get started in business?

Frank Fletcher Jr. grew up on a farm in Tamo, Arkansas -- a town with a population of five. He was tall (6-foot-4 by age 14), played basketball well enough to make the All-State team in 8th and 9th grade, and went on to play at Pine Bluff High School, where he met Judy Hamm -- captain of the cheerleading squad and, eventually, his wife of many decades. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Arkansas, where he pledged Kappa Sigma alongside a then-unknown fraternity brother named Jerry Jones, who would later become the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Frank then served six years in the U.S. Army before beginning his business career.

His first steps into the working world weren't glamorous. He worked nights at Shakey's Pizza and days at a bank while Judy taught high school. Then a job with DuPont Paint led to one pivotal moment: a meeting with Sam Walton at Walmart store number two in Harrison, Arkansas. That $1,500 paint negotiation turned into a 300-gallon sale -- and the beginning of a relationship that would shape the rest of Frank's career.

What is the connection between Frank Fletcher and Sam Walton?

After that first paint deal, Walton recruited Frank to leave DuPont and become a manufacturer's representative for Walmart. Fletcher spent eight years in that role before Walton called him in one day with news: Walmart was eliminating all manufacturer's reps. Every factory would become a house account. Fletcher was out of a job.

Walton's advice was simple and direct: go back to Little Rock, rent a garage, and make something. If it was good, Walmart would sell it. Fletcher followed that advice and started Cheyenne/Silverwood Industries -- making lamps, mirrors, and framed art. That garage startup grew into the largest lamp company in the United States, eventually selling to Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Sam's Club, and Costco alongside Walmart. Annual sales exceeded $100 million before Frank sold the company in December 2010.

Walton's most enduring lesson to Fletcher: "Why so much diversity? Never have all your marbles in one bag." It's a philosophy Frank has lived by across every business he's ever run.

What other businesses has Frank Fletcher built?

Over his career, Frank Fletcher has built and operated more than 20 businesses across a wide range of industries. Alongside the lamp company and the Fletcher Auto Group, these have included the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel, a Benihana Japanese Steakhouse franchise (named Benihana Franchise of the Year), the Riverfront Steakhouse, and the Fletcher Realty Company.

He has been recognized with numerous honors: three-time Walmart Vendor of the Year, the Promise of Hope Endowment Award, Entrepreneur of the Year from the Walton College of Business, and the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Arkansas in 2016 -- the same year that recognized Doug McMillon, President and CEO of Walmart. In 2013, Frank was inducted into the Walton Business Hall of Fame. The first inductee into that Hall was Sam Walton himself.

What is Frank Fletcher involved in today?

Frank remains active across several pursuits. He is a co-founder -- alongside Jerry Jones -- of the Students Acquiring Knowledge through Experience (S.A.K.E.) program at the Walton College of Business, which gives college students hands-on exposure to real business challenges. He has spent countless hours speaking to students and is regarded by program leaders as both a motivational force and a practical guide.

He is also an active thoroughbred horse owner and breeder under Frank Fletcher Racing Operations Inc. He bought his first horse, Fast Fan, in 1989. His homebred filly Frank's Rockette -- out of Into Mischief -- became a multi-graded stakes winner with two Breeders' Cup appearances and over $1.2 million in career earnings. All colts in his stable carry the name Rocket; all fillies are named Rockette. His trainers include Hall of Fame conditioners Bill Mott, Brad Cox, and Wayne Lukas.

Frank and Judy live in the area and remain deeply connected to the dealership, the Auto Group, and the Joplin community that has been their home for decades.
